Pen & ink on Bristol board
The mesmerizing variety of river rock along the banks of Rattlesnake Creek in Missoula, MT was the inspiration for this illustration. Dragonflies, as well as

many other types of aquatic insects, often perch on the exposed rocks to rest and sun themselves next to the fast-moving creek.

This illustration was created using a combination of dots (called stippling) and lines. The original work is in a private collection.
