Gabrielle Sivitz has been teaching drawing and painting to adult students for over a decade, including classes and workshops at the Zootown Arts Community Center in Missoula, MT, the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, in Idaho Falls, ID, and the Pocatello Art Center in Pocatello, ID. Gabrielle wants her students to enjoy art and embrace the learning process. To that end, her classes and workshops are geared toward having fun and accepting mistakes. “When we’re kids we just naturally draw and paint for fun and we don’t worry about if we’re any good at it, but as we get older we become much more critical of ourselves. We accept the myth that artists are born with some magical ability that we don’t have, and so we give up. In reality, it just takes practice. It’s all about training yourself to see like an artist, and having fun along the way.”

Upcoming Classes and Workshops:

April 2018
Pen & Ink with Watercolor Workshop Part II – Location TBA in Pocatello
Saturday, April 14, 10:15 am – 4:30 pm
$50
This workshop is designed to enhance your watercolor paintings with pen & ink, or enhance your pen & ink drawings with watercolor; it can go either way. In this second workshop, we’ll concentrate on creating textures and effects with watercolor and ink, such as moss, tree bark, fur, rocks, etc. Some of the watercolor techniques I’ll cover in the workshop include masking fluid, rubbing alcohol, and spattering.

If you’ve taken my pen & ink with watercolor workshop before, you’ll be all set for this, otherwise you’ll need to have had a little watercolor experience as well as a little experience with pen & ink (dip/quill pen or technical pen) already. I will do a short refresher on pen & ink for everyone at the beginning of the workshop. (45 min. lunch break)
